Left Brain vs. Right Brain
Generally, we categorize Left Brain as Logic/Analysis Brain. As we can
see from above, Left Brain functions focus mainly on learning language
and analyzing information through languages.
On the other hand, Right Brain is categorized as the Image Processing
Brain. Right Brain functions focus mainly on Image processing, like
imagination or image idea creation.
What’s the relationship between left brain and right brain in real life?
In real life, we can easily remember the look of a person or a friend,
but we can hardly recall his/her name. In fact, the image of a person is
directly stored in the right brain, while a person’s name is stored in
the left brain. Therefore, it takes more effort to remember a person’s
name than the appearance.
More information on Left Brain vs. Right Brain can be found on the
following website. http://homeworktips.about.com/od/learningstyles/a/leftrightbrain.htm
Conscious mind vs. Subconscious mind
Some experts categorize left brain as conscious mind, and right brain as
subconscious mind. Would you like to do an experiment to see how
conscious mind and subconscious mind work? First, close your eyes and
imagine you are holding a fresh lemon that is cut into half in front of
your face. Now picture yourself squeezing the lemon so hard that the
lemon juice sprinkle all over your face and dribbles into your mouth.
Can you taste the lemon juice? Do you have more saliva in your mouth
now? But where is the lemon?
In fact, our subconscious mind (right brain) cannot tell whether the
image is from our eyes, from our imagination or from our memory.
Whatever our conscious mind (left brain) decides to focus on, our
subconscious mind reacts to it. Sometimes, this is how some people
frighten themselves to death.
Do you realize once we decide where to go, our body reacts accordingly?
We never have to put an effort to control which leg to step out first,
and how high to raise it. All these actions are taken care of by our
subconscious mind.
Computer Calculation Speed
Wouldn’t it be nice when we are asked to do some mathematical
calculations and our subconscious mind can automatically show us the
answer? All we have to do then is just write or read from our mind.
In fact, we, human possess this potential ability. How long would it
take you to answer this: 123,456,789 x 123,456,789? Some midbrain
activated children can write out the answer instantly!
Photographic Memory
Our human brain possesses photographic memory potential. Our right brain
has the ability to remember all the images we have seen in the past.
However, it depends on the left brain to retrieve the information from
the right brain. With Midbrain activated, children can easily activate
the photographic memory when applying Blind-Fold Reading Method to
remember reading materials of their interest.
Ancient People vs. Modern People
Ancient People were right-brain dominated people. Even though they
didn’t use any language, they had the ability to detect and
differentiate edible food vs. toxic food. When they are sick, there is
no doctor. They know where to find the plant to cure their body. When
there is earthquake or other natural disasters, they can detect the
environmental changes and move away for the affected area.
Modern People are left-brain dominated people. We emphasize language
learning and logical thinking. We like to analyze what is right and what
is wrong. Most of the time, we over-emphasize on left-brain and ignore
right brain signals. Hence, most of our right brain functions fall into
the dormant state or sleeping mode.
Ideal People are midbrain dominated. Ideal People can freely access the
resources from both left brain and right brain. When both left and right
brain are in balance , people become very resourceful and have great
love to offer. By that time we will be able to recover our basic
instincts ; we’ll live in harmony with each other, and there will be no
war. To achieve this, we MUST reactivate our Midbrain
